My parents (who are VERY well off) made me and all my brother's save up and buy our own cars and pay our own insurance etc so as to help "develop our ability to handle finances." My first car was a 14 year old 140K Nissan 300zx (86 NA) and I was thrilled. To be able to get a TT has been even more fun, but it was also a lot of long hours at a job that I hated. Count your lucky stars that someone bought you a car in the first place! Now that you've gotten my speech, here's the rest of my advice. Find someone with a newer Z for sale (93+ in good condition) and take him with you. Have him test drive it just so that he can get a feel for what you're interested. after driving my car, my dad went on to buy a total of 5 Z cars ... (84AE to 93 2+2) completely based on his experience with my little 86 NA 2-seater. At the time when he drove mine, he was driving the first-year wide-track Grand Prix ... a really nice car in and of itself. Anyway, make him drive one ... when it's dry out. If he's not impressed, than he's dead inside. :)
